Isospin Defied by Kaons: NA61/SHINE vs. Theory

Abstract: The NA61/SHINE collaboration has observed an unexpected excess of charged over neutral kaons. This excess breaks the well-known and celebrated isospin symmetry far beyond expectations. Established theoretical approaches fail to account for the mismatch, sparking the search for improvements and new ideas.
