Different Medium effects on Jets in heavy ion collisions

16 października 2024 roku o godzinie 13:15 w sali 143 odbędzie się seminarium Instytutu Fizyki, na którym Dr. Martin Rohrmoser z Instytutu Fizyki Uniwersytetu Jana Kochanowskiego w Kielcach wygłosi referat pt.: „Different Medium effects on Jets in heavy ion collisions”.

Abstract: In heavy ion collisions at high energies, a state of matter,
the quark-gluon plasma (QGP), can be created. In the QGP the
constituents of hadronic matter, quarks, and gluons, behave
quasi-freely as in a liquid. To study interactions inside the QGP one
can examine jets, i.e. highly energetic and collimated particles that
travel through that medium. This talk will focus on jets simulated via
a Monte-Carlo algorithm and discuss how their evolution can be modeled
via radiation induced by medium particles, scatterings off medium
particles, and spontaneous emissions as in vacuum.
